Pair of Vintage Ernest Race Heron Chairs and Footstool in White Bouclé
A pair of completely reupholstered Heron chairs by Ernest Race from the 1950s, along with original footstool. An impressive and ergonomic design, the Heron armchair utilised Race’s innovative internal construction of welded steel rod. Rather than using traditional wood frames as was the norm at the time, the steel rod, latex foam and elasticated webbing allowed for a complex form and visually lightweight outline. The design offered a high level of comfort and generous proportions.
These examples have been completely re-upholstered in white bouclé wool, with new foam and new Pirelli webbing. Accompanied by the original footstool which now a rare find.
