Ikea Axvall Rocking Chair by Niels Gammelgaard
A rather extraordinary rocking chair designed by Niels Gammelgaard in 2002 for Ikea. The chair is constructed in tubular steel, with an oversized disc shaped frame, latticed with bungee cord to form the extremely comfortable seat, The steel frame is enamelled in a rare military green (the Axvall is most commonly found in white). One of Ikea's out-of-the-box specially commissioned designs that graced the blue and yellow furniture store in the late 90s and early 2000s, not just fun and unusual, but also robustly made.

Condition
Good solid condition. However there are clear areas of flaking paint and rust, as photographed. The bungee is still strong, elasticated and resilient. The metal frame is solid and without deformation.
